First, Dr. Eric Feigl-Ding has been spreading a ton of misinformation about nCoV. Second, those amino acids are NOT unique to HIV. Third, the "inserts" they claim are only present in the Wuhan nCoV are actually almost entirely present in the closest bat coronavirus RaTG13.
Finally, even if this were true (its not), magically adding amino acid residues from one virus to another does not somehow make it more virulent. There is overwhelming evidence nCoV emerged from a bat with a possible intermediate host.
A BLAST-p search on the first insert yielded over 100 *exact* matches all over the tree of life. It's a common binding motif.
The sequence for RaTG13 was only published on Jan 25 by the Wuhan Virology Institute. That’s the same institution that would have “accidentally released” 2019nCoV. Whether or not that’s the case, it’d be nice to see those insertions in work done outside the Wuhan Institute.
