The fuss over this 'Alexa sent my private conversation to a pal' is massively overblown, IMHO. If Amazon's version of events is accurate, and it sounds credible to me, this was a highly unfortunate one-off.https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2018/may/24/amazon-alexa-recorded-conversation …

It's the Amazon Echo equivalent of accidentally forwarding a private email to a contact. It happens. Get over it.

It’s the lack of human intentionality which disturbs people. Did you mean to have it record? No, it activated. Did you mean to forward it? No, it misinterpreted. A Dolphin attack by accident.

Yeah, I get that. But people crash cars because they hit the accelerator instead of the break. Nothing is foolproof. What bites me is the suggestion of deliberate malpractice on Amazon's behalf in many reports. Can see no evidence of that.

I see your point Bazza, but there's an element to all of this where people's biggest fears over the technology are coming true. By accident. That's an issue.

It's the Echo equivalent of your phone dialling someone in your pocket and them hearing you chatting in the background. A nothing story.
