- If you do a full reset you'll be able to start the phone as if it's brand new when it'll give you the option to restore from Google or Samsung backups.
So, restoring a Galaxy S7 from a Google backup. How the fuck do you do it?
-
-
-
Yep, except it doesn’t.
-
- What options do you have under Settings / Cloud & Accounts?
-
Fixed it by manually restoring from Samsung account. Painful.
-
- Was either Samsung or Google backup turned on?
-
Both. Both failed initially.

Barry, the setup process of your phone, just after you supply your Google account details, should allow you to setup as new or restore from backup. Does on my Google Pixel.
-
Yep, didn't. The option was there, but the backup failed. Had to manually pick the bits out of Samsung's backup.
-
Oh bugger. To be honest, I stick with cloud storage for most apps, and don't bother restoring, just start again. Hope it solves the issue though!
-
Yep, that's the thing. Even if you lose the lot, it doesn't really matter these days. It's just the hassle of re-entering all your logins etc.
-
Barry, once you got to Android 8, the built in password store is a life saver.

Sounds like a Big Tech Question...
-
Quite. Gonna get an article out of this somehow.

I'd love to help. But my suggestions would begin with chucking it out the window, so maybe look to another source.
