Standard approach... Clear permissions and Google Services. It will fix it but will not explain it.

How do you clear those???

For App permissions - Some variation depending on version of Android but see picture grab.pic.twitter.com/X95NNzciXk

Reset. Had this on my Pixel 2 and after much head scratching, could not find the culprit. Did a factory reset, was very judicious about what I put back on, and now rock solid again. Just a faff and a time drain!
-
Yep, fear that's the answer.
-
With Google backup on, and its new feature to remember app passwords, it's not that bad. Takes me about an hour or two maximum.

- My Note 8 tells me if any app is using a lot of power. Interesting that we both have the same watchpic.twitter.com/55ICPiLxXB

Same watch here. Google fit will cane both batteries if you turn on step by step GPS tracking. No problem for me otherwise
-
Yep, don't think it's the watch. Think a Google Service has got stuck and is battering the processor.
-
The last Samsung update but one did something to the battery I think on my s8. Now on oreo and fine
