When apps and games have an embargo that ends long after the item is available, that always sends a weird message to me. Namely: “We’re not confident in our product, and want people to be able to buy before they can read a review.”

I haven’t agreed to it myself. I never responded to that aspect of their communications. I just find it weird – and it happens all the time now.

NDAs that extend beyond a product's release are worthless (as most NDAs are in the first place).

It mostly comes down to whether or not you want to retain good relations with the developer. In this case, it makes no odds whatsoever to me. But it’s still nonetheless a very odd request. By all means, ask to keep info under your hat, but only until release.
