I'm saying the role is relatively obscure. No doubt it's a senior position, but do you need to pay well in excess of six figures to find someone qualified to staff it? I doubt it.

I guess that depends on how well you want one of the most important BBC bureaus run.

She earned more than the British ambassador to China. I know which I'd consider the more pivotal role.
