By me: why musicians want money for nothing when you rip a CD http://www.pcpro.co.uk/mp3-players/1000107/musicians-want-money-for-nothing-when-you-rip-a-cd …

@bazzacollins They assume that before the law was changed (to reflect actual, accepted behaviour), people bought the CD *and* download. -
@bazzacollins Do they also need compensating when you copy a download from hard disk to player, other media, to your iTunes library? -
@barrybloye I asked them specifically how a payment sysytem would work. They basically said they'd work it out later.

@bazzacollins I'm going to guess this ludicrous charging will also apply to DJs who rip a legally bought CD to play at a gig (1/2) -
@projiuk Probably, yes. -
@bazzacollins you should see the licensing madness involved in creating a podcast where you are promoting the artists' tracks used

But
@bazzacollins can you blame them, when punters are now accustomed to demanding all manner of entertainment for nothing? -
@AlexWMCallaghan I sympathise when it comes to piracy. When it comes to charging people to copy CD to MP3s that's pure, unjustifiable greed. -
@bazzacollins I actually agree with you - its very much like the 'tape tax' in the US in the 1980s - but musicians get royally screwed today
