I really resent the fact we have to a home visit from Fern's teacher before she starts school. Nanny state at its worst.
@Sweder I take your point but I've been allowed to have children without supervision for the past five years. Why now?

@bazzacollins@Sweder It's just the school ensuring it can do what it can to ensure she's comfortable in her new environment. -
@Gingeraction@Sweder I'm absolutely fine with meeting teachers, with or without Fern. The home visit makes me feel like I'm being vetted. -
@bazzacollins@Sweder Maybe there is an element of that but maybe they have a better idea of the kids seeing them in their home environment -
@Gingeraction@Sweder I can see both sides. My partner, who's a teacher, is v much in favour. It still feels like an intrusion to me. -
@bazzacollins@Gingeraction Mrs H is a community nursery nurse, visits many kids/ parents at home. She sees both sides.

@bazzacollins you've had supervision (through post-natal care/ 1 year/ 2 year checks). Not all parents do best for their kids. Obviously. -
@Sweder I'm still not sure why it's the teacher's role to check, though. It's a form of state vetting.
