Reboot always remounts the drive. It's like Windows forgets about it if it's not been used in an hour or two.
@neilharper Powered via USB hub. Suspect it's spinning down on idle.

@bazzacollins Sounds like it. I have a Seagate one where the spin down time can be adjusted via a utility. Worth checking with manufacturer -

@bazzacollins I use this http://www.bvckup2.com/ and it's very good. It's a backup tool, but would suit what you want to do too.
