@jonhoneyball What was lost by brushing out the coach? -
@bazzacollins the truth. -
@jonhoneyball What “truth”? The meaning or context of the photo isn’t altered in the slightest. -
@bazzacollins I disagree. -
@jonhoneyball Had the coach been standing to the right of Sherwood and they cropped him out, would you still think it wrong? -
@bazzacollins concocting non existent what ifs is meaningless noise -
@jonhoneyball Every photo is edited in some sense, either by the photographer or the publisher. It's naive to pretend otherwise. - 6 more replies

@bazzacollins Cartier Bresson insisted his photos were printed full frame. I think editing someone out means, should be mark as a painting. -
@SouthendSites Different age. I think it depends on the context.

@bazzacollins agreed. It doesn't change the meaning of the image in any important way. -
@DrPizza Indeed. There was no intent to deceive.

@bazzacollins Pretty big line to step over, altering news photos? How do readers know what’s real or not? (Whether football is news otoh…) -
@adambanksdotcom To my mind it’s not a news photo; the photo isn’t the story. It’s more illustrative, and doesn’t alter the meaning.

@chrisfinnamore Doesn't alter the meaning of the photo in any way. Fuss over nothing, IMHO.
