@chrisphin Some good points, but IMHO Nintendo would be better off getting out before it's dragged down by failing hardware -
@bazzacollins@chrisphin And do what though? 69p with IAP Mario endless runners? Freemium Zelda? Would people pay ‘premium’ for Nintendo? -
@CraigGrannell@chrisphin You’re kidding? Nintendo could charge £20 a pop for Mario or Zelda and people would lap it up. Me included. -
@bazzacollins@chrisphin Maybe. But that’s still less than current carts and above even Square. I don’t see it.

@bazzacollins it's really just getting started with Wii U; other platform holders are dropping the ball with delays too. Also, interesting… -
@alstonebridge Wii U is already finished. Only people with handheld Nintendos are my daughter or pensioners still doing Brain Training. -
@bazzacollins and me, and a few other 30-somethings I know. -
@alstonebridge It's fast becoming the Ubuntu of the gaming world, clung to by a few devotees. Mario Kart on iPad would be huge. -
@bazzacollins Actually, that one would be a prime candidate for success, but so many N franchises depend on buttons for their feel.

@bazzacollins Sega was in massive debt when it announced development for other platforms. Nintendo is still profitable, albeit less so now. -
@simon_kiteless Precisely. Don't wait until the company is potless. Take the initiative, and don't let hardware bonds drag you down.

@bazzacollins@pricivius Mari-who? Sorry mate, most of us have moved on and are playing with modern titles. It would be too little too late -
@sjparis There's still enormous goodwill associated with Mario titles. Would be huge on iOS/Android. -
@bazzacollins@sjparis Mario with touchscreen controls could be a disaster. Nintendo would have to tread very carefully to get it right. -
@alstonebridge@bazzacollins I don’t think it would be too hard to do. Nintendo are just stubborn and still hope to hold back the tide. -
@sjparis@bazzacollins stubborn? I admire its fixation with making platforms tailored to the things it wants to do. -
@alstonebridge@bazzacollins ok, but that strategy isn’t really working anymore yet they’re not changing it. I say it’s stubborn. -
@sjparis@bazzacollins I think it hasn't worked this last year on Wii U because there's been next to nothing on the release schedule… -
@alstonebridge@bazzacollins not good news. Personally I hope they have the chutzpah and the cash to make a successful comeback. We’ll see.
