@bazzacollins You CAN use your own router with Sky, but it isn't supported.
More fool me for not checking properly beforehand, but Sky Broadband doesn’t allow you to use your own router. Pathetic.

@PaulOckenden Yes, as I’ve since discovered. Thanks.

@bazzacollins - You can tack yours on the back and feed from that -
@MikeHenson yep, but it’s the ADSL chipset that I want to replace. Suspect that’s dragging down the sync speed. -
@bazzacollins - Our backup broadband is with O2 which feeds a dual input DrayTek router. O2 have sold out to Sky so that will be interesting -
@MikeHenson You’ll want to change your backup, then. Likely to be routed through same equipment before long. -
@bazzacollins - That'll be interesting because our O2 account includes landline and mobile with switching; broadband bundled for £5

@bazzacollins I think you can -
@jonhoneyball Yes, I’ve now been told there are unofficial ways around it. -
@bazzacollins it doesn’t use ppoe if I remember right. But that’s ok -
@jonhoneyball Yep, sounds like there’s a few hoops to jump through. Getting Sky to turn up the gain on the line first. -
@bazzacollins all if my install and setup was by open reach

@bazzacollins Hate to complement Murdoch's companies, but the latest Sky router works like a charm. Rock solid.Very strong wifi signal. -
@john_r_moore Got that. Line speed is my big issue.

@bazzacollins You can use your own router with Sky, It's against the T&C's and is a bit of a faff, but I did it when my Sky router died. -
@neilcochrane1 Do you know how you get the network login details? Sky Support are clueless. Keep trying to give me router login. -
@bazzacollins The router login is a code generated by the Mac address AFAIK. SkyUser forum has the details, I'll see what I can find.
