@bazzacollins far better to get winter tyres than to grit the road
Over a foot of snow in the garden. Local council didn’t even bother to grit roads. Glad to see that council tax is being spent well.

@jonhoneyball Yes, but 99% of the population won’t do that. Winter tyres won’t help you pass roads blocked with abandoned cars. -
@bazzacollins@jonhoneyball Winter tyres should be compulsory, like they are in many other countries. This happens several times a year now. -
@paulockenden@jonhoneyball Around 10% of cars on the road don't even have an MOT. Entirely unrealistic to expect this will solve problem. -
@bazzacollins@jonhoneyball works fine elsewhere. -
@paulockenden@jonhoneyball Plus, who's going to force motorists to have a spare £300 set of boots lying around in current economic strife?

@bazzacollins no consolation to you, but our local council on the ball. Plough/gritter always out quickly#eastlothian -
@garleton Glad to hear it. No excuse for people being trapped on motorway for 10hrs with 3 days' warning of snow.
