My take: given the choice between a cheap lens with lots of megapixels or a great lens with fewer megapixels, I would take the great lens.
@davethelimey @DarienGS I'm with Dave. Very little benefit in an increased megapixel count any more.

@bazzacollins @davethelimey@DarienGS Depends whether you mainly tend to use full pix, or look for pix within pix and crop them. -
@PaulOckenden@bazzacollins @davethelimey I like to have the option! -
@DarienGS@PaulOckenden@bazzacollins question is what quality does each option make. big crops on high-res, small sensors=soft noisy shots -
@davethelimey On which 24MP APS-C cameras are you basing this judgment?
-
@DarienGS physics, innit. Big crops take you beyond the mtf of a sensor and lens combo, so you lose detail resolution -
@davethelimey Would like to see a source that says 14MP is worthwhile but 24MP isn't...?
-
@davethelimey That paper does not say 24MP is useless, just says you will lose shadow detail, which is like duh ...

@bazzacollins @davethelimey Well, I upgraded from 14MP to 24MP and I couldn't be happier with the extra res. Make of that what you will.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
