Most phones are noticeably thinner with the battery door removed. Never understood why mfrs don't use the battery AS the back of the phone.
@PaulOckenden Heat? Plus if you drop the phone and break the skin of the battery, that's not good.

@bazzacollins Not so sure about heat - does a bit of thin plastic (sometimes even metal) provide much heat protection? -
@PaulOckenden I dunno. Back of my iPhone 4S gets toasty enough when playing 3D games; wouldn't fancy hand being directly exposed to battery. -
