Fine. That's how it should be. Then we can make a choice to buy elsewhere from another company who are also paying tax.

So capitalism only works if it is eased by government? Surely if Amazons business model is solid they’ll thrive even if they have to pay tax the same as the rest of us?

Nope, that's not my point. I'm saying the presentation of it as some kind of Robin Hood tax on the rich isn't the case. We'll pick up the bill, eventually.

For me, every penny earned in this country should be taxed here. If Amazon’s model doesn’t work, somebody will soon come up with one that does. That’s the essence of capitalism. It isn’t about a Robin Hood tax. It’s about fair rules applied to all.

Every business that pays any kind of tax gets the money from its customers. As you imply, the argument that taxing a company is "free" money just doesn't stand up. Corp tax, VAT, payroll taxes - the customer pays
