Of all the new Amazon hardware announced tonight, the Echo Auto is the one I want most. Voice control makes perfect sense in the car. Needs to support popular satnavs, though.

I use Android auto all the time. With Google Maps never fails. I do think better integration into cars is a no brainer. Surprised there has not been more in this direction. As you say, makes perfect sense but I'm sticking to the Android/Google eco system.

I use Waze primarily. As long as the audio can be routed through Echo Auto, that would be fine with me.

Tried Waze but found the direction at junctions to be confusing - lane suggestions were poor. Went wrong way once and have never tried it again. Of course, both are Google apps. Is it suggested the Echo Auto does more in terms of controlling car functions? Windows, lights, wipers

Don't think so. Think it's more in-car entertainment. Waze has much improved when you turn off the nonsense.
