However, I think the estate agent's boilerplate email certainly wanted to give the impression you should hand this stuff over now. Y'know. Just in case. Estate agent also claims "we are required by law to hold that information for 7 years after", which I'd like to check. (2/3)
Re the estate agent thing - thanks for all the responses. So, I misread the email. They only want ID once an offer is made, although even that seems contrary to legislative requirements. (1/3)

Worse, when I asked how copies of my ID would be stored, they replied: "cryptically coded therefor [sic] incredibly safe" This is why I don't trust people to store my personal information and why it's a bad idea to even ask for it. (3/3)
