A better apologogy would be a joint one (on camera) with your male co-stars who were in that room with you as it's the 'boys club/pack mentality' that is truly toxic & the barrier to movements like #MeToo
making strides. Us men need to be true allies not gaslighting mansplainers!

He isn’t responsible for other people. He’s owning up to HIS actions and apologizing for them. If the other men want to do the same that’s on them. But it’s not up to Jason to decide.
-
Appreciate that and good on him for apologising. Yes, he’s only responsible for his actions however he was positioning himself as the head of this ‘family’ (his words) and in the process quick to lead the defence charge and bulldoze over the victim’s experience. (1/2)
-
What would the issue be with a joint apology? By default it makes the others look like they're not sorry for their actions. If Jason’s the type of person I think he is he’d turn this into a teachable moment for others who're going through encounters like this in the workplace.
-
Right. I get where you’re coming from but the others are grown men who have to take responsibility for their actions. Maybe they don’t want to apologize? Maybe they don’t think they’re in the wrong? Who knows. That why it makes sense to me that Jason is only speaking for himself.
-
I hear you. I’m sure we could talk about this all day! Ultimately I think we want the same outcome we just have different approaches.
I say all this as a fan of Bateman and his work. -
I do hope the other men see Jason’s apology as an example and decide to speak out for themselves. It’s the least they could do after dismissing Jessica the way they did.

It's so refreshing to have someone in the public eye apologise so quickly and eloquently, especially on such a minefield of a subject. Thank you. Let's continue to respect everyone's voice.
-
That’s not refreshing. That’s trying to put out a fire. Refreshing is when he speaks up to begin with, instead of participating and then getting backlash and then apologizing. Sure, it’s nice. But not doing it would have been nicer.
-
We could all play the "it would have been nicer if you'd done this..." card. He apologised, he didn't abuse anybody. Move on.
-
Lol, JB: "Wow. That sucked. I apologize sincerely and will try to learn from this." World: "NOT GOOD ENOUGH: BUILD A TIME MACHINE AND GO BACK TO FIX IT!!!!"

Seriously, JB, article wasn't a good look but way to man up and own it.

I've always been a huge fan of yours. I was cringing as I read that article yesterday Your comments were so awful. ("I'm not saying you had it coming"....??)I was so proud of Ms. Walter for not letting you or the other men in the room gaslight her.
-
I found the interview when a friend told me she’d thought AD5 had been released and I went searching. Alia was the only one who spoke up. Jessica Walter is magnificent.
-
Difficult from our perspective to judge anyone here having basically zero idea what actually happened. Perhaps it was the worst yelling anyone's ever heard, perhaps she's thin skinned and not used to people talking to HER that way and Bateman's peacemaking were wholly appropriate
-
We also know that Jeffrey Tambor characterized his own conduct toward Ms. Walter as unconscionable and that he apologized to her.
-
It wasn’t only Jason doing all he could to negate severity of what Tambor did to Ms Walters [& others!]. Tony Hale & David Cross too. Further, Tambors apology was & remains weak to this day. All 3 men support all the guys who slide by. Wounding, sometimes killing, spirit & body.
-
Yeah, "all men are scum." Eye roll.
-
‘Rosebud’, your comment is misplaced here. If you look at this conversations comments, you’ll see that: there are both men & women involved, that no one said ‘all men’ & that nowhere here is ‘all men’ inferred. Maybe you’ll find that elsewhere. Not here.
