So disappointed. After #ArrestedDevelopment, I followed you along. You chose to defend an aggressor who didnt deserve sympathy & you chose to pile on the victim. Worst, she was RIGHT there and crying as she tried to talk herself into being ok with her abuse.

THIS! You and the men surrounding her forced her into an apology and forgiveness he was not entitled to and she did not need to give. He needed to apologize to her, not the other way around. And you REALLY need to apologize to her, personally, on so many levels. This is NOT okay.

You need to investigate and reflect on why your gut instinct was to protect the man and belittle the woman’s pain.

Sigh I have loved you since Silver Spoons. Seriously. Every show. Movies. And this. You have some work to do. One apology isn't enough. You were so awful during the interview it makes me wonder....
-
I think that perhaps Bateman himself growing up in the industry may have seen this behavior as normal. You can’t do better unless you know better. Hopefully this will be his wake up call. He seems like a pretty decent guy.
-
So what ? That's not an excuse.
-
Right. It’s absolutely no excuse. Ex: those of us who escaped evangelicalism have to recalibrate our entire reality. We don’t need anyone making excuses for our missteps. We need accountability to fully reprogram our reality. Same goes 4 him: his apology is his 1st step.
-
I agree and hope my saying his may have seen this behavior as a young child as an excuse . I don’t excuse bad behavior. We all misspeak or wish we had been better in certain situations. He is owed to change to make his peace with Ms Walters as she is the offended party.
-
I think that most men would excuse it. Not even growing up in the industry... they minimize what we go through. They minimize our feelings. Sure, we all say things we wish we hadn't but she was in tears. It takes a lot of ego to turn a blind eye.
-
Men don’t know what to do with women tears. They are taught to be strong and not show emotion. They don’t have the instinctual reflex women have to hold and comfort they shut down and turn away especially if they are the cause. Not an excuse but I do understand.

Yes, you are. You belittled Jessica and dismissed her very valid feelings about how she was treated in your efforts to defend Jeffrey Tambor. She deserves so much better from her coworkers. And your apology is insincere.pic.twitter.com/zb12eUV0Ob
-
His apology probably is insincere. He has expressed his sincere viewpoint and personal experience in the interview, which thousands of people have tried to shame him into apologizing for. What else do you expect from the man?
-
Honestly, you're right. I don't expect anything. But as an Arrested Development fan, I'm disappointed that the cast of a show I love could so easily dismiss the concerns of their coworker, and I'm expressing my dismay in hopes they reexamine their behavior in the future.

Think, really think, it took a mass outcry of the public to get you to reconsider this, when you should have been outraged when it happened, in real time, and took a stand.
-
Exactly. Shawkat and Cross corrected him more than once and he just doubled down on the bullshit

Sounds like an effort at damage control. If he's sincere about his apology, it will show in his future words and actions.
-
It sounds to me like someone who sees he was in the wrong and is making a sincere effort to set it right.
-
And YAY! if that's true, it will show in his future words and actions.
-
You mean...like his words here? WOW
-
No, I mean how he behaves down the road. Whether or not he was sincere, this apology was damage control. How he behaves when he’s not being called out is what matters.
