    People are asking how he was. What I remember: Very aware of how “scary” he looked; he would pull faces and “scare” us and then do something silly to make us laugh. He read from A Light In The Attic during library time. And his beard was scratchy.

    He visited my elementary school when I was in the fourth grade. All the teachers were willing— based on what I know now— to risk it all.

    1. Breaking: Pras Michel of the Fugees & Low Taek Jho have been indicted for “for conspiring to make and conceal foreign and conduit campaign contributions during the US presidential election in 2012.” Pras directed illegal campaign donations to Obama campaign and his super PAC

    I also don’t think medications get enough. There’s still such a stigma about taking something to help your brain. Shout out to Wellbutrin, lamictal, Xanax, melatonin.

    I’m lucky to have such amazing family and friends but those therapists and pdocs and pharmaceuticals (plus holistic wellness practices)... whew. It’s a team effort.

    I’ve given her every stage of the book from unedited essay, to chapbook, to first draft, now first pass draft. This was important because I named her in the acknowledgments. I’m so grateful for the army it’s taken to keep me healthy and whole.
