Historians are no different than lawyers, doctors, economists, scientists, or soldiers; given any argument, no matter how one-sided the evidence, you can always find some of them to argue the other side. The evidence on this point is, in fact, quite overwhelming on one side.https://twitter.com/KevinLevin/status/1440676006763773954 …

Like I said, your piece completely ignores the fact that academic historians have taken a wide range of positions on the
#1619Project. Your response suggests that you are completely unaware of this ongoing scholarly debate.6 replies 1 retweet 21 likes -

The one person I personally know who knows more about this issue than anyone is you — and yet — after thousands of tweets, I cannot recall a single critique you’ve made about 1619. I could be wrong, but your avoidant position on 1619’s questionable scholarship is revealing.

I have posted numerous links to critiques of the 1619 Project, including this one by historian Leslie Harris. What you call "questionable scholarship" essentially boils down to one claim that was revised. It completely overlooks the scope of the project.https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2020/03/06/1619-project-new-york-times-mistake-122248 …

But wasn’t the “corrected claim” the raison d’etre of the entire project?

As I understand, the goal of the
#1619Project is to re-frame American history around the year 1619 and everything that means to understanding the history of the United States.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -
So the answer is yes.

That narrative ambition explains precisely the refusal to correct when called on being wrong about the Revolution.
