Anyone who’s disgusted by California voters tonight should get their ass in gear and move to a free state. There are plenty of options for you; don’t be suicidally stubborn. Red states need you just as much as you need us.

The future is no longer deep blue NY and CA, with silly holdouts sucking time, money and energy from winnable races. Conservative voters in blue states, come help create and maintain red strongholds. We need one another.

Serious question: should Claremont leave California?

Would be a pretty dramatic step. My general view is that people who can leave CA & NY & some of the other hopelessly dysfunctional blue states should...yet, my family can't leave NY, & I sympathize with people & institutions with roots & ties too deep to abandon.

At the end of the day, everyone can move. Plenty of people move every day in far more dire circumstances, and of course it’s hard. It depends on your pain threshold.

It's easier for me now that I'm no longer practicing law - which ties you to a particular state bar - but my wife's job, daughter's school, elderly mother-in-law's church community...I'd get outvoted real fast. Family is the great source of roots.

I get it—but my family had roots in the community, too. Not just in Europe but in NJ before they moved to FL in 2000. If the calculus is “stay,” that decision implies it’s not so bad.

NY is not as bad as CA (yet), either. At least, not outside the city.
