The weather is one of the first things I recall about 9/11. We were at the bus stop and someone commented about the cloudless sky. We all looked up and saw the silver sliver of an airplane glistening in the blue sky. By the time I got to work, the world had changed.

Lots of people, myself included, reference what the weather was like that day. And until right now I had no idea there was a hurricane off the coast that day. I think it’s an interesting observation.

I have a satellite picture in my office of that hurricane and the Northeast and the picture was taken on 9/11. Until I bought it, I had no recollection of a hurricane off the coast that day.

And there’s a reason why the weather was so clear in the NE. Probably the same reason the hurricane was so far off the coast.

Clear blue skies with a slight chill in the air take me back to that day.

I remember it being such a cloudless day in NY in part because on the evening news, Dan Rather had to point out the attack coverage “was not a simulation”.
