In the 1830s New York City contained ~200,000 people, the tallest building was maybe 4 stories high, farms abounded, there were no paved streets or electric lights. The Jewish & Irish population was tiny. Apples and oranges and you know it. Disingenuous in the extreme.

The modern Democratic Party holds the same relationship to the antebellum version that 18th Century alchemists do to researchers working at Pfizer. To compare the two is disingenuous at best & almost always plain ol’ dissembling & misdirection.
