This is a category error. There were rationalizations for slavery drawn from Christianity, just as there were rationalizations drawn from science, history, & law. My understanding is that was certainly one reason. But I'm inclined to assume it was independently necessitated by the worsening hypocrisy of the supposedly Christian slaveowners. They had to invent complex ideological cover because the case against slavery was simple.
