At the risk of triggering all the Mets fans out there, one of the most incomprehensible player collapses of my lifetime has to have been Roberto Alomar upon joining the Mets. It’s been almost two decades and still makes no sense whatsoever.

It makes a ton of sense if you look at the history of great second basemen between age 33-35.

That suddenly without injury? Usually it’s the injuries which get second basemen or force them off the position.
