This day in 1973, Mets were 51-60, 8.5 games back in fifth place, only percentage points out of last. Tug had a 5.27 ERA, 39/38 K/BB. He had a 1.85 ERA, 42/17 K/BB, 1 HR in 48.2 IP rest of the way. Mets lost the World Series in 7.
