Yeah, I'm the generation where I got knowledge of Jack Benny from my parents. But unlike Lucille Ball or Jackie Gleason, he wasn't still on in reruns, so his living memory vanished. Nobody under 65 has actually *watched* Jack Benny.

And the reason is his main medium was radio, not television, even though he did have his own show - which was highly rated - and there is plenty of television footage of him. But Lucille Ball and Jackie Gleason were known for TV first and foremost. Really a major transition.
