I anticipate Roberts trying to push something cowardly like this: "Casey consists of an undue burden standard and a viability cutoff. If we remove the viability cutoff, then MS's law can stand, and we don't have to look at the undue burden standard today."

And I agree with the article that such an opinion would be inconsistent with Casey and with logic, but that usually doesn't stop Roberts. He doesn't even mind being inconsistent with HIMSELF in two different parts of the same opinion (e.g: Obamacare's penalty is and is not a tax)

Side thought, but why do we call it “Casey” for short instead of “Planned Parenthood”? We don’t call Roe v. Wade the “Wade” case. If it’s ever shortened, it’s “Roe”. Most cases, except where the first party is the govt. are shortened to the first party’s name. Just wondering.
