The progressive idea of democracy is that orderly & fair elections don't matter much - you want everybody to vote because they feel included, then an unelected bureaucrat gets to actually govern us.

The EU is the apogee of such a project. Lots of voting, with decision-making well insulated and instead the product of elite class prerogatives.

Well that's... Special. Citizen's united wasn't about censoring a movie. It was about it being, effectively, a campaign ad. And "non profits" weren't allowed to air those. Otherwise, they're PACs that don't have to admit their donor lists
