It has been obvious for a long time that Cuomo was bad, but you don't need to look at Cuomo to conclude that DeSantis has, in fact, been an excellent governor, which is why the people of Florida (hardly an overwhelmingly red state) regularly give him strong approval ratings.https://twitter.com/RadioFreeTom/status/1422590398803980296 …

Latest USF poll had DeSantis approval at 52% on COVID, 60% on the economy - even among a state electorate that still gives majority approval to Joe Bidenhttps://www.usf.edu/news/2021/university-of-south-florida-researchers-statewide-public-opinion-survey-on-covid-19-biden-desantis-approval-ratings.aspx …

Floridians would have noticed by now if the things claimed about DeSantis were true (they're not). He's above water on every issue.pic.twitter.com/yYDSEshTQC

Anyway, this is not the best day for
@RadioFreeTom to play the "whatabout DeSantis" game.43 replies 22 retweets 166 likesShow this thread -
Also, why do I care about Andrew Cuomo? I dunno, maybe because he has been the governor of my state for 11 years & was previously the state AG. His dad was my governor for 12 years dating back to when I was 11 years old. My 1st-ever vote was against Mario Cuomo.

This is a satisfying day. My only hatreds in politics more longstanding than the Cuomos are Communists and the Kennedys. I loathed Mario Cuomo before I even knew who Bill Clinton was. We're one step closer to finally finishing them.

Is this a serious post? Because Florida had over 21,000 people test positive for COVID the other day. Also my poor Aunt who lives in Florida is terrified for her life because of idiots who refuse to mask or get vaccinated in her State.

Well that’s ridiculous. Florida is right in the middle of the pack when it comes to vaccination rate and Covid deaths. Plus, using cases as a barometer to measure the pandemic at this point is dumb. We have a vaccine now. It’s not about cases, but deaths.

You're wrong. Florida has nearly 3x the national average in deaths. Also, Florida's vaccination rate looks better than it is, because the state's median age is so high. If you look at vaccination in each age group, Florida lags badly.pic.twitter.com/Wv9XbWuqEj

The point being is that vaccination rates increase in each age group. Most of the elderly are vaccinated -- that pushes Florida's vax percentage up, but doesn't mean they've done a particularly good job. Their message to young people has been "Party on!"

52.4% vaccination rate for Floridians age 18-64. Higher than in 24 states. And you are misstating DeSantis's messagehttps://youtu.be/VW33DNBy4L8?t=64 …

52% rate *now*. What was the number four weeks ago, before this massive outbreak?
