As gen x’rs we have failed the country in not acknowledging the dangers of communism.

It's like we shouldn't memory hole an attack on the Captiol, especially if one of those attacks tried to stop the peaceful transfer of power by the losing President.

This. It’s amazing—and quite telling—just how often people on the right completely ignore the context in which the attack on the Capitol happened. Had the latest attack occurred on a random Monday night in an off-election year, it wouldn’t be the same issue.

I brought the '83 bombing up to people who were most outraged about 1/6. Blank stares.

Were they egged on by a sitting president? Were they trying to change the outcome of a recent election? More to the point, what does this have to do with what happened in January?

Yup. When people claim Jan 6 was the worst attack on the capitol since 1812, they ignore the shooting attack on lawmakers in the Capitol in 1954 and the bombings of 1971 and 1983. Breaking a few windows and fighting with Cops doesn’t come close to the above 3 incidents.
