Because the thing that’s irresponsible to cast doubts on, IMO, is the process to get the vaccine to market - the safeguards and FDA standards and the lot. These folks are saying that they don’t actually trust the science. It wasn’t Trump making the vaccine in his own little lab.

At that point, Trump had demonstrated a willingness to politicize every aspect of the federal government — including previously “independent” agencies. He had one guy rewriting CDC press releases. Skepticism didn’t come out of the blue!

Skepticism of Democrats and the public health bureaucracy does not exactly come out of the blue, either.
