"Most"? This is nonsense. Nobody in my family, of any generation, has ever been taught anything vaguely resembling this. In how many of the 50 states, in 2021 A.D., do you believe that the Daughters of the Confederacy presently control the public, private, & parochial schools?https://twitter.com/JoyAnnReid/status/1403471521876779011 …

Currently, most k-12 students already learn a kind of Confederate Race Theory, whereby the Daughters of the Confederacy long ago imposed a version of history wherein slavery was not so bad and had nothing to do with the civil war, and lynchings and violence never happened.

In how many does the organization even exist? I never met one even in Texas.

This may be a little@over the top, but it is certainly the goal of the anti-“CRT” forces now. Look around at states which are making it illegal. How long until teachers are fired because parents complain that they are teaching slavery is evil. That is what’s coming.

I went to school in the sixties and seventies in Tennessee, and we were never taught any such thing. In fact, we were taught a homogenized American curriculum in which our entire Southern culture was ignored.

I attended school in the Chicago suburbs. My history teacher had attended my HS and then became a teacher, and started in the South. He said we could not conceive of how the Civil War was taught. /1

My law school GF was educated in Southern Virginia. She got the exact education Joy describes here. Couldn't believe that the Civil War was about slavery. I had her read the states' ordinances of secession. Her eyes were opened. /2

I graduated high school in 1968. In History class we saw a film about slavery, the South, etc and I this film was a shot of a young black man that was hanging from a tree. I am 70 years old and I can recall that clip as if was yesterday.
