Seems like there's a lot of upside to Rs in getting an infrastructure deal. Biden has come waaay off his initial ask, pissing off the left, and it gives a lot of cover for Manchin to say "see, negotiating with Rs works." 1/

I just think that bill is getting through in one form or the other if Rs don't go along. There's no policy upside to killing it, and potentially pretty significant upsides to letting it go through.

It also furthers a split between Biden and his left flank without having to give up too much. And limiting the tax increases (or putting the pain on D voters) makes it a tolerable ask I think

Lol. Why do we not need it when our infrastructure is crumbling and interest rates are so low?
