Only one of those things is Trump's fault.https://twitter.com/DavidAFrench/status/1392171625399869443 …

I don't know man, I think the president of the united States bellowing out that the infectious disease "affects virtually nobody" as cases and deaths were dramatically increasing every day was pretty damaging.
-
We all know that other Western countries with more serious leadership did significantly better in reducing deaths/cases... oh wait no, unless they were a tiny island nation, they did the same or worse

If the US had Germany's death per capita, realistic in my view, literally hundred of thousands of Americans would still be alive today that aren't. At the end of the day, the buck stops with the president.

Germany’s contact tracing and enforced quarantine wasn’t in the Overton window here, and they may yet catch up to us because of their vaccination failure.

Yeah, the CDC and FDA absolutely botched the early response. That can't be blamed on Trump. He has been a blow hard about covid, and bears some responsibility for making masks, distancing, even the vaccine, so partisan. But the US response was ultimately middle of the roadpic.twitter.com/VZjExabIN9

It's questionable just how much Trump had his thumb on the CDC's language, but there definitely appears to be a nonzero influence there. Also, "middle of the road" is a huge failure for the country that touts itself as the leader of the world.

He was the leader of the free world... so yeah, his failures at personal leadership were a BFD.

What if people think a President’s personal leadership should make things better in a catastrophe? Is that not a reasonable expectation?

Since the statement was not about problems he solved but damage he left us with, trying to make it about whether Trump caused the pandemic is a rather egregious example of shifting the goalposts.pic.twitter.com/GEGzkHonQ5
