Only one of those things is Trump's fault.https://twitter.com/DavidAFrench/status/1392171625399869443 …

Yeah it's almost like when you're president you're responsible for the whole country or something
-
Like, did we ever do this carving out of things a president gets to absolve himself of with any other presidents? Like, Democratic presidents can let red states burn to the ground because anything that happens there isn't their fault?

The economy was booming before the pandemic. Which even under a different President and the best possible management wasn't going to avoid state lockdowns.

The recession started in February. The first shelter in place orders were in March.https://www.wsj.com/articles/recession-in-u-s-began-in-february-nber-panel-says-11591636626 …

The reasons why Trump’s incompetence and mendacity exacerbated the pandemic (which also has profound economic effects) are too numerous to recite on Twitter.

I assume David means our death count would’ve been much lower with competent leadership. Trump didn’t even acknowledge it was a threat and downplayed it for months. In that case, David is 100 percent correct.

Not remotely a Trump fan, but I agree with
@baseballcrank on this one. It all happened on Trump’s watch so it’s all part of his legacy, but pinning the Antifa/BLM riots and COVID deaths on him is a stretch. - Show replies

At a minimum, it seems like you need to pick between the "wave of death" and the "job losses", since surely reducing deaths would have entailed a deeper lockdown and therefore worse job loss

Our country's lousy response to the pandemic is pretty heavily on Trump. Trump claimed credit for all manner of things that he had nothing to do with, like inheriting an extremely low unemployment rate, so blaming him for things that happened under him is fair.
-
Had crime dropped, Trump would have claimed credit for it despite it being a state and local issue, overwhelmingly. Ultimately, Trump delivered on none of the things he claimed he was uniquely able to do. He was, even before the insurrection, an unusually bad president.
