Ignoring requires too much of a sugar-coating of January 6. If you’re a serious party, that has to be reckoned with. Still ignoring would become less bitter a pill if so many weren’t embracing and going down to Mar-a-Lago to kiss the ring (McCarthy), so Cheney has to fight.

How about doing the right thing and letting the chips fall where they will? If justly taking the fight to Trump causes the GOP’s base to leave (lol, where to?) then a party that’s needed to reconstruct a new base for a decade *anyway* can refocus on voters worth representing.

The practical alternative has always been the same: full-throatedly reject this man and don't allow him to hijack the party. Would have been much easier in 2015. Much harder today, but until it's done, there is no path forward. Take your medicine.
