"No corporation has ever made a bad business decision for reasons of internal corporate politics," said nobody who actually understands markets.https://twitter.com/fmanjoo/status/1385642379428827137 …

Historically companies tried to stay out of politics so they didn't divide their market. However, in today's environment, for half the country, no stance is considered bad, so companies are having to choose - and many choose to come out in support of whichever side is loudest.

Almost, but not quite. They come out in support of the side that has the most long term financial upside. With the exception of some niche markets, that means 18-35 year olds in urban and suburban areas.

You have it backwards. I choose to buy fair trade coffee. So do other people. It may be "woke", but that's what we do. Id rather go without coffee then know that the farmer is getting screwed. Other people buy on price, or brand and that's what they do. Its a marketplace.

Dan doesn’t understand the “willing” buyers part.

Gotta disagree there Crank. The opposite of that would be seeking to actually ban those companies legally, not customers voting with their feet, dollars, and feedback.

In what world are boycotts not a core function of capitalism? One of the main reasons capitalism is superior to other systems is the consumer has power to take their business elsewhere. If you weren’t such a hack you would admit this

Lmao “boycotts against conservatives and only conservatives aren’t really aspects of a free market”

So that's for the business to live or die by. Not sure what else there is to do about it other than boycott if you like, which is just a version of "voting with your wallet" that conservatives have always championed.

How are boycott threats not the market (ie bringing together willing buying and willing sellers) working EXACTLY as say. Is it that you don’t agree with all people’s reasons for their unwillingness?
