Depended on the city. There is a lot that has been written about this. And, as I said, haters also sometimes liked to get an autograph. Racism is complicated—it’s not just the one who screamed the n word or, during the same era, went on hate strikes at auto plants.
Are you trying to argue—in the face of scholarship—that Robinson didn’t face an extraordinary amount of racism? A few pleased white fans—and, of course, many white fans supported Robinson—doesn’t obviate the larger point thst racist opposition was intense.
