Providing identification (drivers license number) to bypass signature matching on absentee ballots is a definite improvement. It was not, at that time, sought by the “ruling party” and it was applauded by the minority party who felt it was a key win to them regaining power, which they did, only to squander it with a president who couldn’t hold the line and caused a culture war in “their” party.
