As usual, my point has remained consistent all along. The principle value of democracy is instrumental. It has some value in itself, but other things are more important. We mainly measure the value of democracy as a system by how it delivers those.

Exactly. I think the right to self-government is paramount, even at the expense of my preferred economic system. Your priorities are the reverse.

Are you for removing the un and anti democratic elements of the Constitution? Very hard to vote away first amendment rights — thank God. Democracy is good. But the best parts of liberal systems are the things that are put out of the reach of momentary political passion.

The First Amendment is the key protector of the liberal parts of "liberal democracy." The Constitution required several un-democratic elements that aren't liberal, and also lacks important protections. There should be a right to vote for adult citizens!

The Constitution has been altered several times to be made more democratic. I'd prefer to continue that process.

Electoral College as originally construed was scrapped. 14th, 17th, 19th amendments. Etc.

You're avoiding the particular question, which is whether you wish to eliminate the constitutional barriers to majorities trampling individual rights such as the freedom of religion. Should be an easy question!

I think you and I have already agreed. You believe your preferred economic system supersedes democracy; I believe the reverse.

I do not believe that the freedom of religion is purely an economic question. But I understand why you continue to conspicuously evade that particular question.
