Alito & Roberts were appointed after W won a popular majority. Also, I'd have to do the math, but Roberts got 78 votes in the Senate.https://twitter.com/LucienSmith/status/1381003327647940608 …

California's system does not keep GOP off the November ballot- they just can't manage to come in second in a jungle primary
-
The point being that there are no R votes counted toward the "national popular vote" which makes it that much more of a nonsense data point.

That's a good point about California. Of course that's what the left wants to happen nationally. They want to be in total power.

Vermont, Delaware, Maine New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Hawaii have 11 DEM Senators and combined population less than 20% of California but you never hear progs complaining about that.

Another unintended consequence of the 17th amendment - I've been teaching 18 year olds for 22 years- not a single one could name their state representatives. Local elections are supposed to matter.

One of the founding principles of the Senate was to ensure that the ‘minority’ couldn’t be trampled over at will by the majority, as well as providing more rural populations a voice equal to their more urban counterparts. You’d think the ‘party of inclusion’ would embrace that.

Then I guess we dont need the electoral college anymore right?
