Because comparing a democratic election system to a sponsored advertisement/goof that is a sport's All-Star voting is super dumb and provides no enlightenment on the topic at hand. Which you'd know if you were being honest or if your Twitter bio truly described your profession.

But
@baseballcrank is not comparing the two.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -
It's literally the entire premise of the article.

No his point is fair elections require systems and procedures based upon laws - while mocking
@mlb for its keystone cop skills at running ASV and pretending to be outraged by GA's election reforms.1 reply 0 retweets 3 likes -

If he wanted to do what he says— show what happens in elections without the “safeguards” like those embodied in the new Georgia laws — he could point to the last Georgia election. It’d be more apt. Except it’d negate his point, so he didn’t.

Do u think it’s a fair reading of the article to posit its main point was an apple-to-apple equivalency bw the GA election law and AS voting? I don’t think he is arguing “see the massive fraud in AS voting -we need the GA election law to prevent equivalent fraud IRL elections.”

It’s literally the conclusion of the article. See what happens when you don’t have election protections!”

The point of the article was to note an irony, and the irony is that MLB’s own All-Star voting has been legitimately doubted bc it was susceptible to fraud/abuse. U can make that point w/o arguing these systems are the same, the fraud is the same, so we need the same solution.

There is nothing ironic here. This is a hamfisted effort at whataboutism, which is the writer’s go-to move and has been for years.

I think it's perfectly fair to argue that the GA election was secure, fraud was not widespread, and thus the GA law is unnecessary, btw. But I also think its fair to argue that the GA law makes it more secure, less subject to fraud, and thus the results will be more trustworthy.

Also, after Trump 2020 & Abrams 2018, clear that doing nothing to shore up public confidence against conspiracy theories in GA elections is a non starter.
