"What if we took money from other working people and gave it to college grads?"https://twitter.com/AsteadWesley/status/1378018490389561345 …

Pretty sure we encourage people to go to college because having a highly educated population is the only way America will stay competitive in a global economy.

Again, see if you can find where your little tweet goes completely off the rails. HINT: it's pretty soon after "rather than."

Because college grads are drowning in debt? They make more than non-college grads so imagine how much worse off non college educated workers are. Also although we have federal loans, to say the market is subsidized is wrong. You need to pay back loans you don’t pay back subsidies

This entire argument rests on misunderstanding the definition of subsidy and an incorrect assumption about the absolute wealth of college grads. I’d also argue against your view of the free market but that’s at least a point to be argued rather than just wrong

The purpose is to destroy the institutional power of the professions. Law too powerful? Subsidise law degrees -> Oversupply of lawyers -> Lawyers fighting for scraps, looking for patrons.
