Yeah Dan now the Democrats aren't the party trying to reduce black voting rights and representation.

As you well know, the GOP voting laws & proposals aren't doing that. Democrats have not changed their m.o., they're just selling racial divisions & resentments to a different audience. And in the process insultingly minimizing what Jim Crow actually was.

Republican state governments make it hard for black voters to vote - long lines, not enough polling stations, etc. You have to be a real partisan not to see this. You seem like a good guy - consider the alternative way of seeing things. You don't have to be on Ben Shapiro's team.

Except if you were paying attention, you'd know that the Georgia bill takes affirmative steps to *reduce* lines caused by bad local government in Georgia. But knowing that would require reading the billhttps://www.nationalreview.com/2021/03/joe-biden-botches-the-georgia-voting-law/ …

One question: If Trump had won Georgia and Warnock and Ossoff had lost, do you really think this bill would have been written at all? I think not, and if I am right and this was a response to GOP losses, then that tells you everything you need to know about this bill.

I mean, they're passing things in Florida, where the election went off uncontroversially & Trump won. They passed plenty of elections bills before 2020. Sure, the freakouts contributed, but they still would have reacted to the wildness of the 2020 voting changes.

"The wildness of the 2020 voting changes" isn't a thing. And what they're doing in Florida isn't the point. There is no way this bill would have even seen daylight if Trump and his minions had won. And that's the most damning fact about the bill.

Really? Voting in 2020 was significantly different than ever before. Do you dispute that? eg, Georgia added drop boxes in 2020 for the first time as an executive order. They needed to decide whether to keep that in permanent law (they did).

Dan, the tie to Jim Crow is simple; they passed a law to,are it harder to vote. Their motive is partisan. But you can’t identify a single problem being addressed by some of these provisions. Not everything in the bill is bad, but the motives are rotten to the core.

My attitude is simple: changes to the voting system that make it harder to vote should have to be tied to a legitimately identifiable problem or risk.
