Why are lines so long that the donation of water can influence a vote?

If they have ids, let ANY voter vote in ANY preceict. Watch th3 white people freak out.

You keep talking about the "intent" and "aim" of the law without referring to the text. Is this the loose constructionism we're always hearing about?

I disagree. On its face, it bans giving water to people waiting in line. It’s not clear this involves a certain kind of influence.

As you say it's not (always) clear if there's an attempt to influence. Even if one thinks the NY law better, the reaction to GA's law is hysterical. The former requires policing of unclear situations, mitigated by nominal value. The latter exempts water provided by poll workers.

I wish someone could show me one instance of this ever happening, for any voter anywhere: "making available self-service water from an unattended receptacle."

Dan, what it aims for, and what it enacts, are different. That’s everyone’s point. Does it, as written, prohibit any individual from giving food or water directly to another individual in line to vote? Yes or no?

I have three people show up to the polling place I was working at with guns, but yeah giving a bottle of water to people who have been waiting hours to vote is definitely a huge problem we need to fix.

I honestly believe this may be because you might not realize the fact that people in some areas wait ten minutes to vote, while people in other areas have to wait for hours

The Kentucky case is irrelevant because it is explicitly directed at candidates:pic.twitter.com/ALpCWFLpID
