But you can only donate water indirectly, right?
-
You have no ability to donate water indirectly, giving gifts to poll workers remains illegal. This entire passage, which is the crux of the article, is itself false.pic.twitter.com/FKpdebarEj

Hi Dan. I'm not sure what you mean at "aims narrowly at potential influence". The way the new law is written it decouples the giving of anything of value, including food or drink, from the aim of soliciting votes. Happy to parse the statute further if you don't see it.pic.twitter.com/Y2k85HdW3E
-
And can you not see how the "in any manner or by any means or method" language in the previous version of the statute already covered the examples of influence that you give in your article?

But Dan you're being overly technical and ignoring larger context For years, community groups have handed out water WITHOUT trying to influence people, just aimed at making it easier to stay in long lines There's no doubt R's are targeting this practice to harm D turnout
-
This is a case of private industry trying to account for by government not doing their job (as you rightly point out in the article, this is an issue with local setups). But to act like there's been a rash of vote buying with bottles of water is disingenuous

I had forgotten all about "breathtaking inanity."
Good times.
