Republicans across the country have all sorts of ideas about voting & elections rules. Some of those ideas are already uncontroversially in practice in many states. Others are terrible ideas! But that's a reason to prefer the good ideas over the bad ones.

Lol you use words like "commonsense" and "elementary" without really explaining why voter ID is either of those things, and cite popular support as a justification for voter ID without explaining the policy problem it solves

The question you can't or won't answer, though, is why it's so consistently important to Republicans for it to be more difficult for people vote. There's no good answer to that, and so you talk about it in fuzzy "state vs. federal government power" abstractions instead.
